Sky pond was a challenge towards the end since most of the trail was either covered or people made their own. Continuing on past the falls the trail has less traffic as it meanders along pine forests and switchbacks to the north longs peak trail junction, 1.6 miles in.

The crowds dwindle quite a bit in winter (though this is still highly trafficked), and the experience is entirely different during winter months.
